The Ankeny Area Historical Society will holding it’s monthly open house on
August 1, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
at their two museums located at
301 SW Third St.
You will find a century-old 2-story farmhouse and a replica barn filled with artifacts and displays that brings the area’s past to life. In the barn a corner cupboard built in the mid-1800’s by John Thompson Ankeney for his wife Anna Maria Newcomer Ankeney from her favorite walnut tree is on display. On display in the house also from the Ankeney family are a spinning wheel and wash basin with stand. Martha Ankeney Schaffer Goldberg of Alaska donated them.
